Sopwith BF (AWV*) was out again this morning on a local mission to a VMCC meeting at the Jolly Nice cafe complex on the Stroud/Cirencester road.
A roundabout route via Cotswold lanes was chosen, rather than the straight-through A419.
Met. conditions were poor (0*C., visibility 150 yds.) and sure enough, the carburettor iced up on the return journey, surmounting the Col du Cherington (480 ft.): it didn't thaw much until the Vallee de Minchinhampton (475 ft.) was reached.
Anyway, that's 15 miles towards the 2025 Mileage Challenge.
Photos depict the puny VMCC turn-out at the cafe (several came in cars...) and the frozen carb.

* All-Weather Version: a hot-water bottle in the rider's jacket.

Because I am beginning to feel the pressure to keep up, I had to get out on EK today. Although it is much warmer on the south coast, currently around 4 degrees, I too had to battle through adverse conditions caused by a slight drizzle and general murkiness. Below is a picture of my frozen carb for good measure.

 - Doesn't say much for the exhaust-bleed heated induction manifold muffs, does it...

I did think of that especially as you two mechanical engineers would have plumbed them in correctly

Well done you two , would love to report some mileage but other jobs ( log splitting for next years supply ) took Priority, anyway according to Phil I need to source a bearing for NC ! I think he's right as there seams to be one missing! Less weight ( well the machine anyway) so is that the 'secret'? HNY to you all
