Hi ABCers

Firstly, apologies as I am a little bit late with the September mileage report, but September saw some 338 miles travelled by ABC.

The main thing this month is to congratulate the intrepid pilots of XB, XL and BF on their successful completion of the Levis Cup which this year was held as a memorial run for the late Martyn Round, a fellow ABCer.

First picture this month is of Team ABC, from a different angle to Paul's post, at the Levis Cup. L-R XL, BF and XB (photo credit to Cath Sumner, VMCC Flat Tank Section).

The second picture is not a recent one and dates from 2012 and the ABC Centenary meet at Brooklands. This picture shows Martyn preparing to take me around the paddock on board his ABC combination. Martyn was gracious enough to spend time with a then non-ABCer and to explain the marque and variations in the assembled machines. Martyn really is to blame for my ABC obsession and hopefully this photo conveys the fun that we had on the day.

Hi ABCers

October has brought in the darker evenings and an end to summer. My own ABC mileage has dwindled to a mere 28 miles due to a lack of time to do any riding and the rain that we had all forgotten about over the summer months.

I am struggling to find any interesting photos this month, however below is a picture of the valve lifter gear which I made and recently fitted to WA. This was in done in an attempt to improve WA's starting, which has never been that easy. You can ask my neighbours about how much time I have spent running up and down the road with WA! Anyway the addition of valve lifter gear to WA does seem to have improved things which is great for a man as unfit as me.

Below is a short video of starting WA using the newly fitted valve lifter. I this was either the second or third attempt and I was very pleased with how easy it was.

Phil sorry to hear you have been having so much trouble starting your ABC, I have just been watching a video from a couple of years ago "how to start an ABC',by coincidence the chap carrying out the demonstration looked the spit image of you and he went through the whole procedure and the bike started with half a kick,!
There was no running up and down the drive,by memory the bike was EA
Enjoy the memories Derek😄😄

Hi
We are just coming into summer here and I went to the annual Chiltern rally in northern Victoria,
I only rode two days on my ABC, as I was also riding my 1914 JAP 500  twin, so on the two days I did ride I covered  315 kms in beautiful sun shine.
Hence my total mileage this year is a bit down, too many other distractions.
All the best Andrew Cox

Well done Andrew.

I'll add your 315 kms to the tally. Do you have any photos of the event this year that you could share with the community?
