Have had any joy finding wheels and tyres?

As you know I want to keep the original rims but could not find any original 16 x 2 3/8in beaded edge tyre.

I was lucky to find two NOS Dunlop Carrier tyres 14 x 2 x 1 3/4 which I have fitted temporarily without adding anything to the rim apart from a rubber strip over the spokes.
I don't think it will be enough and might spin off but I have not yet found somebody who did fit them properly and can explain what's required.
These are wired tyres and their diameter is 4-5mm larger than the beaded edge rim.

I have considered buying brand new 2 1/4 - 12 wired tyres but a friend pointed out these are not wide enough: 14 x 2 x 1 3/4 tyres are 50mm wide while the the new 2 1/4 - 12 are 45mm wide.

Roger from the Brooklands Library suggested using 16x2.125 Raleigh scooter tyres. He seems happy with them so it might be an option but I had not tried them myself because I found the two Dunlop around the same time.

It's certainly confusing to keep track of all the different measures for the same diameter rim.

Gioor you were lucky, where did you find those Dunlop Carrier tyres?
I have the Dunlop carrier wheels fitted to mine! so if at some time in the future you no longer require them I would be very interested to buy them.

I found them on ebay. There was an advert for one so I bought it and then I asked the seller if he had others.
It just happened he had a second one and sorted out my main problem.

Did you fit yours to beaded edge rims? Did you have to do anything special?

No my Skootamota had been fitted with the Dunlop Carrier Wheel many years ago, probably at lest 50 years ago. I have told that it became standard practise when the tyres were no longer available.
You are lucky to have those wheels if they are in good condition,

Oooppps, nearly forgot to post some pictures of the final result.
Thanks to Ian my Skootamota is now running and today I've fitted the last remaining few parts which where missing.
