Re the wooden cylinders, are they perhaps casting patterns modified for display? They would probably be slightly oversize if that were the case.

I don't remember any ABC spares being sold at the Bill Boddy auction. Most of the interest was in the literature and the spares received few bids. I bought a four cylinder block from the Hispano aero engine that was raced and blown up at Brooklands in 1921 and John Summers bought a crankshaft from the Parry Thomas Leyland. I think they both sold for £40!
The block is a masterpiece of early aero engine engineering with fixed head thin steel cylinders screwed into a beautiful aluminium water jacket. This was topped off with a single overhead camshaft which means the assembly is light enough that I can still pick it up, amazing for a capacity of nearly six litres.
