unknown ABC part was created by dhales
Can anyone tell me what this ABC part comes from? It is in the States, and the photo was forwarded to me by a friend. It doesn't seem to be any form of hub-cap, and there is no sign of how it is fixed in position. I do not recall anything similar on an ABC car, motorcycle or Skootamota, but the logo is almost certainly the same as other products from the Hersham factory.

Hallo David,
Your mystery part certainly doesn't belong to a Sopwith ABC (nor, I think, to the G&R version of this machine): the ABC tank badge is (a) flat, (b) about 1 5/8" ( = 42 mm.) in diameter, and (c) has a 'dot' in the jaws of the 'C' of ABC.
Your part seems to be in two pieces: the ABC 'button', with a central rearwards-projecting boss, and a collar that fits round the boss.
Going from various illustrations, some of the 'pre-war' ABCs carried somewhat larger badges (Keith to respond, please!)
I'm looking into the badges of alternative ABC companies, there have been several, it's a popular name.

this is an interesting one
the badges are riveted through the tank so not an easy job to take off
everything looks correct apart from the dot
the mould could have been faulty ?
is there more about ?
has someone removed them when restoring ?
being assembled by someone other than abc ?
