"Cranbury" was created by Paul
This run, a sort of deregulated, hair-down Banbury Rally, was based on the same Gaydon motor-museum complex, and provided a similar style of routes, with one short and one long.
As the Three Musketeers we set fourth at midday, just at the close of a mighty cloudburst. D'Artagnan and Porthos chose the short route, and Athos the long.
D'Artagnan and Porthos made it back to base in the dry, but Athos copped walls of water after about 30 miles on the long drag.
Afterwards, D'Artagnan, strictly a sort of fourth musketeer, was worried by the absence of the original third member of the trio...was he riding with us as a ghost?
But then the penny dropped...Keith was entered in the Banbury-proper the next day...it was he who was Aramis(sing)!

Last edit: 2 days 19 hours ago by Paul. Reason: Dumas just tapped me on the shoulder...No. 3 was Aramis, not Artemis!

It is indeed an Italian on ABC.
I didn't have many expectations at the start and probably even the organiser thought I would not make it back when he tried to give me the paper with the directions just to realise I had no odometer.
I had Porthos instead who led me all the way and once even had to come back to look for me.

Yes, I did break down...but only once. It was all planned on purpose to test the myth of the pushrods flying to the field on the side of the road.
I can confirm ABC motorcycles are subject to this problem but only if the rider does not tighten the nuts properly.
The engine also gives plenty of warning to the rider who has time to stop, close the throttle and admire the scene of the pushrod flying out.
Easy fix and OH is now roaring as it should. Speeds up nicely and even the brakes do their job!

Can only thank all those who helped bringing it back to life. Keith and Phil above all

I certainly enjoyed the day and below are some further pictures taken a the start.

D'Artagnan fiddling with something. Could it be the right hand exhaust tappet?

Such pretty and colourful patterns made by the rain.

A smug Porthos and D'Artagnan after completing the shorter run.

More rain.

Keith's starting number for the proper Banbury Run.
