Does any body have a spare dynamo that I can buy or borrow ?
If not does any body know the size of the gear on the end of the Dynamo ?
Or dimensions of the dynamo and gear ?
My bike is complete but without lights, I can get most parts but the dynamo is special. It is gear driven off the gearbox main shaft.
When I made my new bevel gears I did refit the dynamo drive gear bit I have no information on the dynamo gear that would mesh with it.
Kind regards Andrew Cox

I might have something you can borrow. I'll get back to you in January with a few pictures.

Hello Andrew,
I took some pictures of my dynamo which I believe is correct for the ABC or at least for the period.
it's a Lucas type E3 and I can also read part number 12246 A on the case.
I believe it's correct because it fits and it's also described in this 1919 Lucas catalogue
http://www.barnstormers.co.nz/barnstormers/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/lucas.pdf
I'm assuming the Headlight (M41), Tail light (M5) and switchbox (M5) showed on page 4 of the same catalogue might have been installed on ABC motorcycles when these left the factory. However this is an assumption as I was told tail lights for ABCs should be MT110.
Going back to my dynamo, it doesn't work but I'm not ready to give it away.
I can send you measures, pictures or you could even borrow it but I'd like it back. I still hope I'll be able to find someone who can fix it and maybe even provide a cover for it...

Hi
Yes please, may I borrow it .
Just to measure, and then I shall send it back. My postal address is :-
Andrew Cox
Jasdane Engineering P/L
F5 No 8 - 12 Pascal Road
Seaford
Victoria 3198
Australia
Tell me what it cost to post and I shall, naturally, reimburse you.
I have a couple of project options.
One is to find another generator / alternator that will fit or
Make an electric starter motor to fit in the same spot.
I am looking forward to seeing it.
Kind regards Andrew

Hi
Me again.
Looking again at the pictures I see the gear is off center. I therefore assume that you insert the dynamo into the gearbox and then rotate it to get the correct gear engagement.
Is there any information regarding this assembly ?
Kind regards Andrew
