Latest rally down under

The steering-head of a Sopwith frame is not very well-braced, with only three tubes.
The central tube resists a degree of bending loads, but because of their angles relative to the steering-head lug, the other pair also see some torsion.
Andrew's right-hand tube bears the signs of a torsional fracture.
I've only ever seen one other frame fracture, in the same position, but on the left-hand tube.

frame breakage at that point are more common than you think, i have 2 frames like that and one is from australia, put it down to the rough roads but the other is from the uk and repaired on both sides

Yes, frames and girder links were always an issue. I will try to attach a couple of photos of my frame with repairs.
