ABC final drive rubber cushes was created by Peter E
We are currently carrying out repairs and restoration on a 1919 ABC. It’s has excessive play in the rear sprocket and examination has revealed that the rappers to be excessive wear on the rubber bushes and they only appear to be on one side of the nuts. Does anyone know where we can source a new set and is the rubbers only on one side normal? I would expect them to be on both sides.
thanks

Hello Peter
I replaced the cush drive rubber in my machine some time ago as they had begun to rot due to age. Yes, there should be a rubber on either side of the hub tang. I carved a set of replacements from a set of Royal Enfield Bullet cush drive rubbers which I had "in stock" as they say. They seem to work just fine.

as long as it is hard rubber then it should be ok i used the rubber matting that you put down in horse stables and works ok just cut them to shape with a stanley knife only us that because i have hoses and had the matting. it is about 60% on the thrust side and 40% on the recoil side
