ABC 400 gear lever

Hi has anyone a spare gear change lever for my bike which they will be willing to let go. The one I have a present is in such a poor state the nickel plating will not stay on for long as the metal has de-laminated. See attached picture. I have had it done 3 times now and within a few months its starting to peel. If anyone can help that would be great. CheersChris

Seriously, I think you have to remove rust-pits that are being plated over, and which then destabilise the copper and nickel overlays.
Vigorous sand-blasting? Electro deplating? Chemical bathing? I hope you find a solution (or a new lever!) 

It has been blasted, polished, copper plated then nickel and it still breaks through. The metal itself looks like it's porous.  It will do until something better comes along.
