How many springs in the clutch was created by keithsams
There has been a recent query on how many clutch springs to insall.? There should be 1 large spring and 4 small springs.Alan redman advised that he had only the large spring fitted and it ran fine I followed suit and just fitted the large one and several years latter its still OK.I have never had clutch slip and have been up some steep hills.don't know how heavy the clutch would be with all the springs fitted or how you would fit them?

Hello Keith,

I fitted the additional x4 springs estimating spring length and strength. This has resulted in a heavy clutch action at the handlebar lever. The clutch works fine and certainly no slip but I am sure it would work just as well without the additional springs. The clutch is hard to use and I will in due course remove the additional springs next time the engine is out. Lighter springs might be better but I doubt they are necessary.

Hi
I have just found this topic.
When I dismantled my engine it did not have the 4 extra springs so when I rebuilt it I only fitted the large one.
I have now done over 1000 Kms and there is no sign of clutch slip.

Kind regards Andrew
