Verification of Bike for registration with DVLC was created by DeepDiver
Hi.
I have the old BUFF log books and original registration documents but these were never registered with DVLA when the local town halls gave up this duty.
As such I need to get my bike verified. So I can keep the original number plate etc.
Does anyone know who I need to contact?
Regards Neil.

Hallo Neil,
In my experience, a Buff Registration Book is recognised and accepted by the DVLA.
Send them the book (by registered post: this may cost - I think, anything up tp £8, but this is good insurance) and you should receive a V5C by return.
I'll try to find the exact DVLA address/department for you later today.
In parallel, you could send me your machine's credentials - reg./frame/engine/gearbox/bevel-box numbers - to see if it is 'known unto the Register'.

Neil,
You will have to have the bike inspected to provide proof of date. The correct DVLA form V765 will have to be completed by a recognised club a list of clubs can be found here https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/832539/v765x1-list-of-vehicle-owners-clubs.pdf
Do you know who the VMCC ABC marque specialist as they should be able to both provide a dating certificate and authorise the form.
I have recovered registrations in the past for Brooklands vehicles as well as Morris cars and I see that I am still on the list although my address is out of date. If all else fails I will get my address changed and authorise the form but I haven't done any for the last two years/
Regards,
Roger

Hi Roger.
Thanks for the information.
I have the V765 firm ready and waiting.
I don’t know who the ABC Marque specialist is, I’ll have to do some searching to find out that..
Unfortunately I have sent off the old buff long book but the DVLA just don’t have any interest in helping out at all. They just want to deal with easy modern stuff!
Cheers Neil.

Concerning: obtaining a V5C from DVLA if you have a Buff Logbook:-
(Apologies for advice recently given, evidently I was out-of-date on this, but now I've consulted my 'inside line' to the DVLA, and can announce the following).
It depends on whether the vehicle has ever been registered with the DVLA.
(a) If there is a DVLA record, then an application for a V5C can be made via form V62, to the address on this form, noting that Further Investigation may be necessary, depending on the Status of the Record.
(b) If there is no record of registration, then application will need to be made via me, under the V765 Scheme.
If approved by me, the various papers should be sent to :-
Vehicle Casework Group K&R/D4/DVLA, Swansea SA99 1ZZ.
My address is Coldspring Cottage, Besbury Lane, Minchinhampton, GL6.9ES
The best of luck with finding you way(s) through this administrative minefield, Paul Button!

Hi Paul.
I have already made enquires with the DVLA. However when records stop being held at local town halls and transferred to the DVLA my Bike’s records were never transferred over , so DVLA have not got any records of my bike.
I will have to go down the V765 scheme route.
What will you need from me to enable you to verify my bikes details? Will you need to come and see the bike?
What photos or video will you need?
I have 2 old Buff log books , Bill of sale, and various other original pieces of paperwork.
Look forward to hearing back. Thanks Neil
