Hallo All,
By chance, I can answer this one.
The Kawa (replica) piston's 'compression height' (from cl gudgeon pin to top of head) is 0.5 mm. LESS than for the ABC piston.

Hi All

I have been in contact with a local machine shop in Southampton (Quayside Precision Engineering) who have now given a quote to manufacture barrels based on my examples. The prices per pair of barrels are as follows:

- Up to 2 Pairs @ £270/pair

- Up to 4 Pairs @ £260/pair

- Up to 8 pairs @ £240/pair

The barrels would be manufactured in EN16T steel and the lead time for machining would be in the region of 3 to 4 working weeks. The finish will be a natural machined steel finish.

Please note that I personaly have not used this machine shop before, but there were suggested to me by others in the custom bike community. Please feel free to view the website at www.quaysideprecision.co.uk

I feel that the next step is to try and bottom out the piston selection issue and at present I think we have the following options:

- Honda GX160/GX200 generator engine piston

- Kawasaki Zephyr piston

- A bespoke ABC replica piston

- Hillman Imp piston

Once this is done I will start a new thread for those who would like to take advantage of the prices above so that we can sort out the purchasing process.

I hope this will be of interest

Regards

Phil
