These rollers bear on the top and lower sides of the front fork’s suspension-spring’s top leaf.
The yoke can be fitted in two ways, as shown in the (exaggerated) diagrams A and B, which illustrate the effect on the position of the off-centre top roller, relative to the spring leaf.
Is it important which way round the lower yoke is? Does it matter?
Evidently, not a lot! Actual machines are fairly evenly divided between A and B, without apparent ill-effect or advantage. But for the record, Original Illustrations all show Style A.
Should you wish to change your machine from Style B to A, it’s quite easily done:-
1). Chock up the front end of the frame.
2). Slacken the steering-head stem’s top nut, to free the top yoke.
3). Remove the lower spindle from the lower yoke (noting the sequence of nuts, washers, spacers and bushes), which frees the rear ends of the lower fork links.
4). Pull the front wheel/fork assy. forward and upward, far enough for the top leaf to clear the yoke.
5). Revolve the steering-head stem/lower yoke through 180*.
6). Reassemble it all, in reverse order.
